O’Reilly’s TPM on “War Breaking Out in Washington”
O’Reilly’s first TPM of the year struck me, for the most part, as a fairly level-headed critique of the GOP’s plan to repeal last year’s health care legislation. It’s also a very timely question, well in line with the proper job of journalist. Except that it’s being spun as part of a bigger war between President Obama and congressional Republicans. That “war” is a theme O’Reilly evidently replayed during later segments that night. It’s a theme likely to appear again and again in his political reporting this year, especially when he’s in the mood for hyperbole, which seems to be most of the time.
